I was in germany for 4 years and know the problem with stuff from the states and stuff from europe. As far as converters go, I believe the hertz stay the same. I myself would rather have the euopean electric system far cleaner and more effient over all. I should be getting my Herpstat end of this week or begining of next week I hope. So don't can't give you an opionion on it yet.

well spyder robotics got back to me and they said the Hz would need to be
    60hz.
Since it's a proportional thermostat it monitors the AC sine wave and
all of its timing is based on a 60hz signal. but a non-proportional thermostat would work.

i would really prefer to get a proportional thermostat, so does anyone know if there is anything i can use to convert the Hz?

ok, well i don't think there is anything i can do about the Hz so i am just going to get a ranco or johnson a simple on/off. do any of you have either of these and are you happy with them and are the proportional thermostat much better than these or is there not a huge difference? and also they both seem very alike so i don't know which one i should get, what do you think a ranco or johnsons?

    thanks!

I am getting a ranco. I've heard good stuff about them, but I think ranco and johnson are pretty much the same.

I have a ranco, and have not had any trouble with it.
