Re: I Hate Carpet!!!
I hate it too... 1 dog and 3 cats take a toll on it. I had it cleaned before I moved in, and it looked worse than ever two weeks after that...

Re: I Hate Carpet!!!
Oh! I got one of these stories. We had just bought a brand new (never lived in!) house. We were moving from AR and had only been in the house for a couple hours. (Our stuff was arriving in the morning) I allowed our son to have a small amount of grape soda. Well about 15 minutes later it was back ... all over our brand new cream carpet! We hadn't even been in the house for a day. :tears:

Aaahhhhh....thanks for all the commiserating, guys! I don't know why, but it always helps to hear that others have the same nightmares. Helps ya laugh about it.

Unfotunately, the milk is encouraging more mucus hon. That's why he's upchucking as the last days of his chest cold is the time when his lungs are clearing out mucus. I always cut the kid's milk half and half with water when they have a cold
I know this is true...and I'd cut back on his milk consumption quite a lot and was gradually increasing it as he seemed to be feeling better. I don't know why I manage to get suckered into this cycle yet again. "Oh look...he's feeling SO much better now...he'll be OK." Cutting the milk in half with water is a very good idea. I'll bet ya so long as he doesn't see me do it, he'll never notice. I'll try that trick over the weekend, although he's still not going to get glasses of milk nearly as often as he'd like. Poor kid... :(

And yeah...I spend a few hundred dollars every 5-6 months getting the carpet professionally cleaned. I just hope that by the time we move out, that cleaning will be adequate to not have the home-owners screaming at us to replace the whole thing. (We're renting this house.)

Re: I Hate Carpet!!!
First off I hope your son is doing and feeling better.
I know when building houses I hate when homeowners choose that almost white carpet.
The guys working on the house once the carpet goes down are suppose to take off their shoes but that sometimes doesn't happen.
We get that good ole Va red clay tracked all over along w/ God knows what they have eaten for lunch.
One thing I have used and is usually very sucessful is a product you can get at Home Depot or Lowes in a can called "Spot Shot" That stuff gets out everything including blood and grape soda. You may want to give it a try.
I always have a can on hand here at home because even tho my son is 16 he has a great habit of knocking over his grape and fruit punch koolaide :)

I've had great success with a product called "Folex Instant Carpet Spot Remover." It gets rid of everything including blood, red wine, coffee, rust, grease, and other crud that one may spill on their carpets. :)

I was very successful using Simple Green or the generic equivelent Mean Green with a small amount of bleach in my carpet cleaner... however, it meant cleaning the carpets every two weeks without fail, and sometimes even more depending on if mud was tracked in or any other colored substance that could be tracked in or come out of a child. Small spots I was able to do cause my carpet cleaner had the nifty hose attachments.
BEWARE: this will cause your carpet cleaners to go to hell from all the use very quickly, you will be replacing them yearly on average. Unless you spend the cash for the Rug Doctor monsters, they can live through more abuse than any carpet cleaner I have ever come across.
Hope your little one gets to feeling better soon Judy....

Re: I Hate Carpet!!!
The best way to fix a bad mark in your carpet is to....put a piece of furniture over it...when your friends ask why the love seat is in the middle of the room and your husband screams that he tripped over it and he can't see the football game on the TV any longer...insist it is "feng shui" and if you dare move it back it's not your fault if they all go wonky from "bad harmony" !!!:)
P.S. This also works for marks on the wall...just bang in a nail...put up a picture and insist firmly that you saw a top notch decorator on TV who always places photo's at knee level! If this does not fly, try excuse #2 "it enriches the dogs visual life" or excuse #3 "leave me alone! I have PMS!" (a woman saying this with a hammer in her hand always wins!)
