Judy were gonna have to agree to disagree on this.

Maybe its because all my bps are kept in black plastic rack systems, I have seen ball pythons that were kept in fish tanks that would not feed. moved into a dark rack, they would be eating in 2 weeks without a hide.

Different methods work for different people, im talking about what works for me. :)

I'm not entirely sure we're disagreeing....unless you're claiming that a bp needs no hides no matter what sort of enclosure its in. Your rack system works like a big "hide" for each individual snake. But as I said...for the vast majority of people who keep BP's that's not an option or desired. For all those people who keep their snakes in individual enclosures that are not completely closed in (visually speaking)...hides are essential.

im using a acur-rite thermometer/hydrometer from wal-mart and i have the unit itself right behind the cool side hide and it reads out 81-82 all the time. and than i put the probe under the warm side hide in the back and i have it reading 92-93 daily. so is a good set up for tracking my temps?

Sounds good to me. Are you using a t-stat to control your heat?

right now im just using a dimmer due to my financial status but i check it regularly to adjust it so the temp doesnt flucuate to much and im saving up for a thermostat

Some BP's just like the cold better than the warm side of the cage. When it started getting cold outside all of our snakes were on the warm side except for Tuleo who was on top of his hide on the cool side to get away from the heat.
