Sexing the Green Tree requires either probing, popping or the "breeder" lying about the actual sex of the snake. Probing them requires that you restrain them, meaning you have to hold their back end steady with them twisting and coiling, causing unnecessary stress. Popping requires you to press on a very tiny area(in a GTP's case anyway), and that tiny area has very delicate vertebrae that can be hurt by the one doing the popping.
And then there's the lying, but I wouldn't buy from that breeder anyway. :)
Go email Bob Clark and see if he has any yearling male GTPs. A friend of mine just got a 2 year old male GTP from him, and he is very calm, easy to handle(in the daytime, LoL), and of good size and weight. I would rather buy a healthy,well-established older snake from a very reputable breeder, than a "sexed" hatchling from someone else. Cheaper is not always better.
Wow...that's some good info! Thanks for sharing. :)

All GTP's go through a color change as they progress to adulthood. There are a very few expensive lines which will retain yellow, and some $$$$ that will turn blue (and there are some that are partially black, calico, some albino's), but the majority of GTP's, turn green :P
A typical GTP will end up looking something like this

Have you even researched these snakes at all before deciding to purchase one?

yes, i have. i've done a lot of reading about caring, feeding, husbandry, etc. read what background info i could find. i'm not running into this at a spur of the moment decision; but i hadn't read anywhere that "most gtp will lose they're color and turn green." i had read that they changed color, but i assumed they changed really young into these bright vibrant colors not from bright vibrant colors to a green.
the first three snakes are from one owner, the other is from a different breeder. i asked them both about the sexing and i've gotten a response from the first one and here is what she says to my "how do you know they're sex if you're not supposed to probe them" question:
"you are absolutely right. That is why no probe was done and sexing is not guaranteed. I have an associate who has had snakes for many, many years and he gently took a look and gave his best educated guess. Using a probe and sexing a snake can damage and kink their tails. All the gtp’s are babies. I cannot guarantee sex at all, as a preliminary and gentle visual check was used."
so that makes me feel better. i havent heard from the other guy.

Wow- I consider you lucky to own any one of those beautiful babies :) I too am very drawn to those maroon babies though
Re: Which one should I get? (DUW)
maroon got my vote. since you wont know which ones will stay that color and which ones will get green as they get older, get the one that looks best now.
Re: Which one should I get? (DUW)
None of them will stay those colors, unless of course the yellows are from "Canary" Green Tree Pythons...but more than likely they will all turn varying shades of green...possibly hints of blue...hard to say honestly because they're mixing the localities.
Do a bit more research before you make your final decision.;)
