Re: Omg!!!!
Ohhhh Gin!! No more peeking at his Ebay activities! You're gonna drive yourself nuts!!
My hubby's proposal wasn't a big surprise...it was pretty obvious what he was about to do...but he tried to make it a surprise and planned a really nice romantic dinner around it.
We'd dated off and on since high school..and finally through his last year of college. He was commissioned an officer in the AF and was going to move to Sacramento (we were in Dallas at the time) in a few months. So we didn't have a whole lot of time to dither about whether we should marry...LOL. I pretty much needed to know if he would take me with him or leave me when he left. He made it pretty clear he wouldn't leave me...but wouldn't commit to anything more than that.
A week or two later, he told me to dress for a special night out...and took me to Reunion Tower in Dallas. (A restaurant inside a giant ball at the top of a tower) We had a beautiful dinner that he was too nervous to eat........no proposal. After dinner, he suggested we go up to the bar/lounge for some after-dinner drinks. He doesn't drink...but I had a nice glass of wine......no proposal. Finally he decides we need to go out on the observation deck and look at the city. We walked around the whole deck three full times before he finally gave up trying to find a spot where there were no other people. LOL And then he got down on one knee and held up a box with a beautiful diamond ring and asked me to marry him.
It's funny that even though I expected/hoped for him to propose that night....I was still at a loss for words! He said that was the longest 20 seconds of his life while I fumbled around trying to remember how to say "Yes!!"

Re: Omg!!!!
Congrats on soon to be engaged.
My proposal wasn't that elaborate at all, but it worked for the moment. I asked my wife to marry me, in a parking lot, in my bug. It was so not romantic, but it suited us well. I didn't have a ring or anything yet, that came later heh. We were engaged for 3 years before actually getting married. People were always asking us why we were waiting so long, and we just said that we were trying to save money and such and not rush into it and take our time. All that waiting sure did pay off though as we celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary on Oct. 5th. Good luck with all your wedding plans and your future together!:D

Re: Omg!!!!
My husband and I were dating six years before he proposed. He's not the most romantic creature but he tries. He proposed on Valentines day, he walked into the den where I was on the computer, handed me the box and said, will you marry me?
It was actually pretty funny. We were engaged a year and a half and got married Aug 12th of this year.
Congrats on your find!! ;) Let us know when it all goes down!

Re: Omg!!!!
Rick's proposal to me isn't easy to describe on a "family" forum, but I'll try keep it PG-13. :D
We had been dating for about 3.5 years and both of us, I think, pretty knew that we would be together. I told him in the early summer that we needed to be engaged by Christmas (no pressure!), but it was enough to get us both motivated to move forward with figuring out details.
We shopped around for engagement rings and such and finally picked out what we (I) wanted from bluenile.com. Rick told me a couple days later that the stones we picked out had been sold and we'd need to wait until they had more like the ones we picked to become available. I was deflated, but *believed* him (har har har).
Anywho, we had gone out one night because I needed some new clothes, specifically new...um...*cough*...bras and panties. And as a general rule in our house, when you buy new clothes, you have to model them when you come home.
Soooo, I was modeling my new bras and panties when we got home and Rick came into the room holding something behind his back - I knew instantly he had been fibbing about the stones being sold and that he had the ring.
I don't really remember him asking to marry him or not before I...um...jumped his bones. :D
That was October 28th of 2004...and we are getting married in just over two weeks on October 28th! :carrot:

Re: Omg!!!!
my hubby had just moved in with me (and my two kids) and said... "you know we should get a dog... the kids would love a dog" i replied, "getting a dog is a huge commitment and i'm not ready for THAT!"
he replied, "kinda like getting married eh? let's do both!"
we were married a few weeks later. in all, we never really dated. we were best friends for about a year and he was moving in with us (purely platonic) so we could all share a bigger house - since we spent so much time together (he rented a room in a house) and so the night before he moved in we had a talk about how we can never have a 'relationship' cause our friendship is too important and told each other why we needed to just stay friends. the next morning at 8am i called him and said, "it's too late" he said, "i agree, want to go get a coffee?" so he picked me up and i got into his car, smiled at him and said... "well i guess we are going to do this then?" (meaning a relationship) and he said, "i don't think we have a choice."
later that day we moved in his stuff and he proposed a couple days later... and we've been married for 8 years now and i love him sooooooooo much. we have a great marriage. so much for long engagements eh? LOL

Re: Omg!!!!
These stories are all (most of them) romantic. I think when I find the right girl, and pop the question, I want to do something funny. Maybe get completely hammered... swallow the ring... have her take care of me... and then throw the ring up on her, and say "Where the hell did that come from?"... Yeah, maybe this wouldn't be funny as I first thought. I thought of it in two minutes. Just imagine what I could think of with more time!!
