Please do not take like I said no one knows the whole story. The clinic I called has three vets working there and one of the vets only handels reptiles so I would hope that she did take herp classes along with the standard veterinary classes. That why I was a little upset because I would think that sexing would be a common request especialy for a self proclaimed reptile vet. Again I'm sorry if I offened any body my intention was only to ask for help. I love all of my animals and I get a little testy when some one tries to mess with them. Because she could have really hurt him not knowing what she was doing and just started probing!

I take offense at the "claim to be a professional" thing...just because they don't offer a particular specialty interest does not mean they are not a very good and very professional vet in other areas.

You would have had the right to be rude if she hadn't told you she'd never done it before but the way it was she was perfectly honest and forthcoming with you only to have you be rude.
Herp vets don't have a huge amount of resources available to them to study so most of their learning IS done with 'guinea pigs'.
I also believe that most of us here care for our animals but once again that is no reason to be so rude without a reason.
I'm bowing out of this thread now, I'll just get more redundant.

I didn't curse her out nor did I slam down so I don't see how I was being THAT rude. I simply said no that she wasn't going to use my snake as a "guine pig", she said ok and I hung up. It wasn't even the vet her self it was her assitant relaying back and forth, that why I was on hold for so long. Again I was just asking for a little help and a couple of people were nice enough to help me (thank you by the way) problem solved. I didn't want to turn this in to a back and forth bashing which I have to keep defending my self, nor did I want to offend any body.

dude...no matter how much you try and soften it up people are still going to tell you it was rude...no matter who it was. YOU called them, YOU asked them for something. THEY simply offered to help.
