You shouldn't ship reptiles without approval of the shipping company.

People that ship without certification put the shipping freedom of certified shippers at risk everytime they send something.

Companies have stopped allowing reptile shipments before because people were shipping without regards for the guidelines and I would not be surprised if it happened again since people seem to disregard the rules so frequently.

I agree with you Daniel. It was over a year ago that I had to use that "cookie" excuse....I did not have the time to get certified. Now i'm back in the game and plan on getting certified before making any more shipments.

you also need to be specific on what type of animals you are shipping, if all your are saying is reptiles in general, they are most likly going to decline you, bacause they do not want to put their employees at risk by dealing with venomous, or deadly large snakes. ups is the same way they will only allow you to ship lizards.

It is a FEDERAL violation to ship animals without labeling the shipping package. If you are caught, you will end up with a FELONY on your criminal record and most likely you will get jail time..a few years of it.

The standard shipping companys do not allow venomous shipments and as far as I know Delta Dash is the only company that allows it.

Not that I know of... for THAT reason... but if you're not certified to ship reptiles, and for some reason your "cookie" pakage is inspected.... I've been told that the pakage is held up wherever in the country it is (usually Memphis), and the shipper is told to come collect their pakage.... THAT would suck!

Please, please, please do it legally and get certified. Even though it is business to business only, as Daniel mentioned, home based businesses have become pretty common. As Daniel also mentioned, the more people ship illegally, the more chance that our rights to ship legally could be taken away. FedEx has done something that no other package shipping company allows at this time by permitting us to legally send snakes. Lets not do anything that might make them rethink it. Get the certification. It doesn't cost you a thing and it protects everyone involved. For those that asked, you need to have "live harmless reptile" labeled on the box as well as the latin and common names of the animal that you are shipping. I also put a sticker that says that I have been approved to ship live harmless reptiles and if there are any problems to contact me (with my cell #) or my fedex sales rep (with his name and phone #). Hope this helps!

Ive been shipping with fedex and ups overnight for the past 5 yrs or so without actually knowing you needed to be certified I haven't shipped all year this year because of not being certified now I am doing it the right way. My package gets picked up tomorrow and goes to the center in Memphis. It's free 2 day delivery and they ship my package back. Then once it's approved I have to sign the liability waiver from my area rep. Then I'm good to go. I had to set up an account with fed ex and they charged my credit card 10 bucks. At least I will be shipping legally now (now that I know the laws) I knew it was against the law to ship snakes trough the usps but they accepted lizards and amphibians correctly marked on the box. I never shipped lizards or frog through them but I got stuff from people through express mail or whatever it's called now.

You actually won't get your package back. You ship it using their account # and they proceed to run it through the battery of tests. When done, you get a FedEx envelope back with the test results and hopefully an approval. You then call your rep and they send you the waiver to sign. Then you are all done! Glad to see you are doing it the right way!
