    Yeah I know, I'm horrible :cool:, but I was kidding and yet not kidding too. There is a method called skeletochronology where you actually count growth layers in the vertebrae to determine age. It probably isn't the best way to find out how old your pet is (more for how old your pet was :D ), but it has been proven to be an accurate method in studies on some fish and reptiles (although VERY tedious, I did it on some fish in an Ichthyology lab some years ago). If your bored and want a mild headache, read this for more info on the methodology.
