Its bugs, they seem to find there way into the feeder. I clean the feeder atleast 3 times a week when they use it alot but it seems like they have started to migrate now, we havnt seem one for a while.

If the insects are ants, you can put a thick coat of vaseline on the cord that the feeder is suspended on...they won't be able to walk over it.
