If you are planning on having a building large enough to house numerous racks, there is no way to get around needing an air conditioner. Thunk about this. In our snake room, we have about 150 feet of Flexwatt heat tape that is heating enclosures to 92 degrees. That means that the actual temp of the Flexwatt is probably around 96 degrees. That is alot of heat to offset. The only way to do it is with an A/C. And yes, an A/C does suck up alot of electricity. Who said properly caring for a large collection was cheap?

Thanks Tim!! I have plenty of time to think about it.

If you buy a shed make sure it has some sorta ridge vent, which will allow for excessive heat to escape out of, or even if the roof is high enough to allow the heat to rise to, possibly an "attic" level to allow the heat to be drawn away from the herp room into the "attic"

You could always build your own! Mark is building a garage from scratch with no plans, outside; I'll post a pic tomorrow (kinda dark out lol)

I built an 8x12' shed with no insulation ran me just about 1000-maybe a bit more for, i did it myself drew up the plans from a local shed company....shhhhhhh i don't think they would like that;) . I just went and counted the number of studs, floor boards, pieces of plywood, everything and built it myself.
