Man that is the picture of self-sufficiency right there.

How many total racks do you have and total occupants? Sometime after we put together our megarack I'm seriously going to need to consider following your cue on rat racks!

I needed something that was efficent and required very little service. I use pine shavings for bedding and vanilla extract in the water to reduce the smell. I clean once a week and that is plenty for sure. Each tub holds 1.3 adult rats. One tub is always empty. I move a colony to that pre cleaned tub, pull the old tub, dump, refill and move the next colony in. This has become such a fluid motion that doing 15 tubs takes ~20 minutes. The water supply is timed to last one week while leaving ~10%. This way it's easy for me to remove and clean the tub. The food trays also hold one weeks food leaving ~10%. So automated I could really only go in there once a week for 30 minutes.

As I see a female getting close she will get her own tub or share a tub with another close female. Three tubs hold the next weeks pre items. One tub holds a small colony of mice for scenting. This small colony keeps my ~30 ball pythons fed and I release the extras into the woods.

You release domesticated rats that dont know how to fend for themselves into the woods?
