my new guy tried to snap at me once, but after letting him settle in I constantly went into his cage (well, once a day or so) to change his water, or rearrange his decoration (shark thing) just so he'd know I wasnt in there to go after him.

he's still a bit defensive, but he hasnt struck out again

I was going to say the same thing LOL thats been my experience as well, my wife still wont go near my female het, since the day I brought her home, she struck 7 times while I was taking all the goodies out of their deli cups LOL shes calmed down nicely, her homo and het brothers are mild mannered softies LOL

A lot of the time, striking is something that a new arrival will do, under a lot of stress. Bela struck at me the day we got her; when we opened the contained she was shipped in; she has never struck at me since, and that was over a year or so ago; same exact thing with Luna, the little '06 I got forom Cueball, and even my pastel male; all struck when being put into their new cages, or acclimated, but nothing afterwards. I think yours just needs to acclimate more without disturbance.
