I've seen several spiders around $900-1200 for either sex this year, and female pastels as cheap as $400. The pair can easily be found for that price.

Just look around KS and you can find a few ads at those prices. Ben Siegel has 2 female pastels for $450 each, and Terry Heuring has some spiders for $1,100. I'm sure there are others too; those were just the first ads I happened to open.

I think the key word here is "cheap". I'm willing to pay more than that for a really nice animal. I generally stay away from "cheap" morphs, they generally aren't as nice looking, more like grade "B" animals.

Be selective, so you can produce nice animals as well, not more "cheap" ones!

Never said cheap was better. I was simply pointing out that $1,500 was not unheard of for what he was getting. Ben's pastels in the ad don't look too great (color wise; I'm sure they are perfectly healthy), but it is still not very hard to find a "cheap" pastel that looks good. Even if you did pay the usual price of around $700 for a hatchling pastel female that looks good, it is still pretty easy to find a spider cheap enough to balance it out at $1500.

Exactly. High quality still commands higher prices.

Thats good news, the ones she had at the looked great. I had my eye on a really faded 1900 gram female, but took too long to decide. When I went back she was already gone ..... :(
