    No, freezing does not numb them. For the future, please be prepared to humanely euthanize a rat if necessary. Especially if you plan to breed them. Have a CO2 canister available or know where to quickly get dry ice and how to use it properly.

    I hadn't planned on breeding until my small rats got old enough (about another month to go now). This was so unplanned. She was meant to be food but ended but being pregnant and then this happened. But I am going to being using the dry ice method when I do start breeding. I just wish the rat would have lived. I blame the pet shop being so careless with the rats. She was never meant to be pregnant.
