You can also put them on the hot side of a lizard cage and they hold heat really well.. Nice little "hot hide":)

This is Jake my Cornsnake who was a rescue. He had been badly burned on an unguarded lightbulb due to thoughtless, uncaring owners. The scales on the side of his neck will never grow again. He has a lot of scarring all down one side. He must have been in terrible pain from such horrendous burns:( A snake coiling round one of those death traps I mean heat rocks could end up being seriously burned, costing a lot in vet bills, the poor snake being in terrible pain, the possibility of infection and death. Much, much safer with a heat pad and proper thermostat.
If your friend can't see this, then he's not a fit person to keep a snake:mad:
I did however figure out what to do with all those lovely hot rocks that someone so generously gave to me..and I mean a bunch of them!!!
I cut the cord off, and boy they made some awesome hides when stacked and such for a few of my lizards who needed bigger hides, and they are light weight too!
dang. i wish someone would give me some hot rocks for free. i would LOVE to do a little 'experiment' on them and have each plugged into outlets in the conditions my bps would be in, make temperature charts for the 'sides' and top of the rock and post an article on how long it took for them to 'heat' up. 'twould be nice to pass around the net and prehaps give to a few pet stores i know that generally care but are misinformed

I'd like to know just how hot those things get.
I showed the guy this thread and he got mad at me and told me to piss off basically. :( kinda sucks but oh well..
