You need to check your facts on that length ;) GTPs can hit 6'...
Re: Thinking about going arboreal.
I would check out the Biak locality GTPs, they are supposed to me more docile, thus making it kind of easier to clean cages and whatnot without a fuss.
Or you can get a snake from the dollar store and hang it on a branch. I've heard they are VERY hardy :P
Re: Thinking about going arboreal.
That snake book i was reading lied.it said the average adult length was around 3 or 4ft.

Actually I've heard several places that Biaks tend to be more feisty... I don't have a problem with a fussy/grumpy snake at all, and Biaks are gorgeous!
Thanks for the link Daniel...I've checked out the site a while back, but hadn't been there for a while.:partyon: I've also been checking out The Urban Python because of you...they have some amazing carpets. /drool.

Re: Thinking about going arboreal.
I voted for the Green Tree Python of course.............
I absolutely adore Biak Green Tree Pythons!!! :snake2:
There is a lone male at my breeders place that is to die for, hyper green back with a blue dorsal stripe. The best part is that his belly is neon yellow,
oh man!!
One day I will purchase him. If things go this way for a couple months....
Last year he was $650.00
This year he was $550.00
Last week he was $400.00 WOW this is getting better and better!
The only reason why he is not selling is everyone is afraid to handle him, they are afraid of those Chondro Fangs going through their hand. LOL, I handle him all the time, every time I go the the breeders. I don't doubt he will take a shot at me one day, but I don't care it would be worth it.
Soon I will set up the Arboreal setup in the living room and strap in cause we are going to have a great ride!!!
Here is a picture of him.................LOOK INTO MY EYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Thinking about going arboreal.
Tybalt, you should definitely pick him up...for that price...and, he's killer!:O
I want one like this: BTW mods, is it okay to post a picture if the photographer/breeder is given credit...or do we just have to link? I'll post both link and pic(which is downloaded to my gallery), delete whichever to abide by TOS. Signal Herpetoculture.

Same Snake:

I love the GTPs with blues especially when it's patterned and all over the snake.
Re: Thinking about going arboreal.
I'm on a big rhino ratsnake (Rhyncophis boulengeri) kick at the moment...these unusual colubrids are a lot of fun & can make fascinating display snakes. They're a bit tweaky about husbandry requirements - i.e. not a lot of room for error when it comes to making sure your temps are spot on, but if you have that dialed in correctly, rhino rats can be a blast to keep. :)
K~
Re: Thinking about going arboreal.
Man, those GTPs take my breath away every time I see a pic of one. (it'd not the house's fault; it's us, with cages/tanks everywhere.) Once we own a home with more space, i definately want one. You know what I voted!
