I have seen our baby fox snakes do that i think because it was a pinkey and it was so small/young. I also witnessed a bull snake about 5 feet long swallow an adult mouse from behind without constricting it. It was feeding day and by the time we realized he didn't constrict the mouse was looking around from inside the snake's mouth!!!
It is just a bizzar thing!

none of my corn snakes killed their live pinks before they ate them. as they got bigger and their prey items got bigger... they did wrap and kill first.
i was told that they instinctively know the pink won't harm them... so they don't bother killing them.

thats how my bp first ate when i got him butt first then head and did exactly what that snake did with it in the begining
