WOW!! I never thought i would say this, but that spider is beautiful. I did a search on a. versicolor and i couldn't believe my eyes :D. I'm super freaked of spiders, but that one actually looks cute. . . Anyone care to inform me on the temperament and behaviour of this species, and other tarantulas as well. I'm very ignorant right now, and know nothing. Do you guys really handle these spiders?

you can mine is about an inch or so. they are very tame and nice if you were to handle a T i would start with this one. although it can be very fast and skittish. it can be a very pleasureable experiance if done correctly. 60-70humidity 70degrees heat. if you use a heating pad put it on the side of the enclosure NOT under it!! a Versicolor is an arboreal species and will seldomly take to the ground , tip a aquarium on its side like the pic below

well you motivated me to take some pics of my versicolor sling. just three and they are kinda crappybut you get the point of how beatiful these baby's are. although they morph into diffrent colors as the grow older. i have to use my old camera till i figure out how to work my new one :sabduel: . i love this little guy. he was a little defensive right there on the lid. so i decided against handleing the little guy, wouldnt want to lose him.

Thanks so much guys!! :carrot: They're so beautiful. I think I'm going to start doing my research on them, and who knows. . . I may end up with a new pet :D. Have any of you ever been bitten by your little guys. I think I might have to overcome my fear a little before I get one. I think I'll go to my local pet shop, and ask to handle theirs. I'll keep you guys updated.

Just be sure you have good ventilation. Avicularia are a bit more sensitive to ventilation than others, especially A. versicolor.

Might I ask why you're keeping that versi in a terrestrial set up?

Anyhoo, back to the orinigal topic...yes, I know it's old.
Here's a pic of my T. blondi last January after she molted. She's about 10" in this pic. Crappy pic, but it works.
