Ok well I had to sit down and think about this.I now remember whare i read this.It was in the bearded dragon manual.I have lent it out so I do not have a page reference for you.
I know it is verry comon to breed offspring back to parents.I myself whould not go more than 3 generations without adding new blood.As for breeding siblings well I do plan to breed my het.albinos witch have the same father.I have heard of people breeding direct siblings togeather with no ill efects,but I myself whould not do it if the parents are related(father,daughter etc.).I'm sure everone well have there own opion on this matter

I figure, to get new blood, I could sell the related male and buy a new male; if it's the same morph, I guess you would basically be "trading" yours for new blood, in a roundabout way, by doing this..

See the key words in your post is Bearded Dragon Book.Lizards and snakes are totaly differant when it comes to Genetics and the such.Please do not think i am being rude here as i am not.And as far as breeding the fathers back to the babies(or mom) this is how the majority of the morphs first started out.

Yea thats exactly what i will be doing after i produce a couple years of the Pastels.

If you realy think about it,genetics from animal to animal can't be that differnt its genetics Inbreeding is done to prove out morphs,or to strenthin a certian carectoristic(size,colour etc)But if it had no ill efects why whould breeders addvertise unrelated pairs.If in breeding has ill efects in horses,dogs,beardies and pritty much anything else.Than why is it ok for snakes?(I am talking about multiple generations)

I think that some post that they can get pairs unrelated is that it bothers some to inbreed.My female het albino is from one breeder and my het male is from a buddy of mine.Both are 100% albinos though.I did not think you were being rude at all ,i just wanted to make sure i did not seem rude.:D

This thread answered one question for me, and then brought up another one. What about breeding from the same clutch? What kind of results did this produce?

From what i have been told by several breeders is that they do not ever see any genetic defaults from breeding clutch mates to each other.In the beggining they had to breed brother to sister or mom to sons or vice-versa to produce there breeding stocks.The only snake that MIGHT(not proven) to have any bad affects is the spiders and the spinning some do.Although it may not even be thru genetics that this is caused from as for now noone has any proof.Did this answer your question?
