Could someone PLEASE post a pic of the clip systems described above? I'm having a tough time visualizing it.

I've got a metal mesh top atop a long 20 gallon that I have secured with two nylon straps, one on each end. It's secure, but it obviously stresses my snake when I cinch the straps tight. Seems to be the vibration as the straps tighten. When I start to cinch them, he gets hyper-active, slithering frantically from one side of the tank to the other before fleeing into his hide. I got him more than two weeks ago and he still hasn't eaten--and I watched him eat before adopting him.

I'd really like to switch to clips so he'll be more comfortable and, hopefully, take a mouse.

Here is a photo of them in a bag. Not too clear, but you know what to look for. They come in many sizes. http://www.petco.com/Shop/Product.as...familyID=4353&

    Why thank you Allison.

I do agree that some of my bigger girls in the 40g breeders need a clip left/right
forwards/backwards. Four in total just like the picture above. They are strong little clips. Apply them and then try to lift a corner. Nope it is not going to happen and just think you have leverage from above. Not pushing with your nose/head from below. Just my :2cent:

I use those for Ginger's 40g-long tank, as well as for the tank my new Pastel is giong in; strong little suckers! As long as your lid fits right with them on, you should actually be able to lift the tnak by the lid when it's attached. I have never had an escapee using these.

I use the clips on several cages and no one has escaped. The only thing i have ever had a problem using the clips was on a 125 gallon enclosure we had for our boa.Every now and then i would have to reshape the clips, sometimes she would push up a little. She never escaped though;) .

Here's a picture; sorry, I meant to put in my last post. It shows the clips "in action" on Ginger's 40-long tank. They are the clips pictured a few posts back by BoidFanatic. :)

Thanks. Seems like there just isn't much to clip to on the tank (your standard garden-variety model) itself, but I'll give it a try.
