Re: Hello my name is Kyle! (im new)
You guys are worrying me about having them together! how can i tell if my snake is stressed out?

(one is about 3 months old and the other is 7 months old, not sure if it matters)

the bigger one (Kilo) seems to be very head shy! I have had them both for about 5 days. the smaller one doesn't have such a problem with me touching his head. (everynow and then he gets nervous and moves quick. But the bigger one seems to be getting worse, just about every time i try to touch his head he gets scared (no ball) and moves quick. This is really starting to worry me...

also no one has ever said anything to me in reference to humidity... for the record they are in a 20gl tank.

You can't tell if the snake is stressed until it is too late. Please, for the snakes, seperate them.

You don't have to touch his head, don't worry, most of them are head shy.

    Humidity should be 50-60%

You really should stop touching your snakes for at least a week, i would even suggest maybe 2 or 3 meals before you start to handle them. Ball pythons are very head shy, that is why youre getting those reactions it normal. I would think the bigger one is dominating over the smaller male at this point. If you can't separate them immediately and one starts to eat and the other doesn't i would defintely separate them; the snake not eating is problably stressed. :2cent:

Re: Hello my name is Kyle! (im new)
i have awsome news! I remembered my sister (age 16) has been wanting a snake for a while and her birthday is in like 2 months. Well i just got off of the phone with her step dad and he said they can take it tommorow! I'm giving her the 7 month old Kilo (i want a younge one) and keeping the 3 month old Kole.

Also tommorow after work I will being going to buy another temp gauge to make sure i keep it 80 on the cool side and i already have it at about 90 on the warm side. I will also place the water bowl on the heat side to produce more humidity and purchase a humidity guage to be sure everything is perfect.

I would like to take a second and thank everyone so far that is teaching me and helping me keep my snakes the happiest they can be!

    Thanks,
    Kyle

Don't buy a gauge, they flat out SUCK at taking the right temps. Use these. Just put it on the warm side and put the probe on the cool side.

what is the purpose for putting it on the warm side (by it do you mean the LCD display?) and put the probe on the cool side?

The actual Display takes one temp, and the probe takes another. Two thermometers in one!!! :)

well i already have one temp guage on warm side but it isn't digial. so your telling me that digi reader will read temp for both sides AND read the humidity for the entire cage.
