Re: Taking to the vet
Joe, in response to your post above, just out of principle I wouldn't even recommend skipping a trip to the vet if the keeper feels it may be needed. I don't understand why reptiles have been labeled as a pet that doesn't "need" or "deserve" vet checks in times of illness.

Who said it is ill?
She took it because it hasn't eaten, which would indicate it is stressed. Having been previously housed in a store that of course would have a high volume of traffic in it and probably multiple bps in one enclosure.
My advice, as I already stated is based on my opinion and experience with juvie bps. If it is stressed it needs time to de-stress!

I do not have a problem taking a reptile to the vet. This of course is after the snake is giving time to get used to its new home, and when it indeed has a problem. This snake was never given time to come down from the stress at the pet store nor the trip to its new home. Now if this was two months from now i would say take it to a vet now.

Re: Taking to the vet
I wouldn't see the harm in leaving a live fuzzy in the tank over night...worst thing that could happen is that the snake doesn't eat in which case you just take it out again and wait.

Re: Taking to the vet
Well I did leave fuzzy in there last night till this am. Course he didnt touch it, so yea I think maybe a week is a good time to try again? I have been leaving the tank covered with a blanket for a few days so it can maybe feel cozy I guess maybe that will help to? Oh and by the way I just got home and he had kinda thrown up a bit of the stuff they gave him at the vet.?!

Re: Taking to the vet
Yea the dark is good for their security...I also believe that taking crumpled up balls of newspaper and putting them in the tank will help the snake feel more secure. Less floor space filled with clutter= security for your little friend. Wait a week and try again, patience is key...good luck.

Make sure not to cover the whole tank ,no air flow or humidity could get to high and both are a bad thing to happen.Yea give him a week or so and see how he does. One thing i have learned is patience when it comes to ball pythons lol.Keep us posted

Re: Taking to the vet
Leaving food in there is not a good idea at the moment. It will just add to the stress. Because it will sit and watch that mouse constantly, which won't allow for any rest.... IMO!
Patience is the KEY for problematic feeders that are not ill. Good luck!
