That's a pretty cruel way of capture; I am in no way against using animals for food/useful products, but humane killing is a must; that sounds horrific.

WOW that had me on the edge of my seat! Damn that was interesting. Let us all prey for the Annies of this world. Innocent crocs, snakes, allis, ect. for the clothing trade. Eating is one thing but shoes, purses, pocketbooks are not a necessity. Just my $0.02!

Hey Ginevive what part of NY are you from??

i dont think Steve Irwin is bad at all. i dont know why people dont like him. ofcourse he is a little for show. if he wasnt he wouldnt have a tv show, but he is one of the most deicated, passionate people ive heard of with reptiles, not to mention he's a renowned conservationists and breeder.

EXACTLY why hes like that , i bet in real life away from the camera hes nothing like the way he is onscreen.
When i first read that tortured girl story (on another herp forum) i never had a clue that it was from steve irwin , until someone mentioned he wrote it , imo irwin is an ok bloke and have made nature docs more interesting (how many kids actually said they like natures docs before steve irwin came to are screens , not a lot i bet ) , you can tell hes loving what hes doing , this is only one account of cruelty and sick acts that goes on on a daily basis and was a pretty clever way of getting the message across . Steve Irwin and also Nick Baker has a way of making nature docs much more fun for young and old alike but imo the GOD of all nature docs is still Sir David Attenborough :D

Well from what his wife said about the first time she met him i bet he is just an excitable guy- she said the way he was carrying on about an alligator(or a croc dont remember) made her interested in him. I doubt he was just giving a little talk to the zoo audience either.

i remember a taipan, brown snake, or some other highly venomous species had an infected fang mouth or something because of the fangs some how and they removed the fangs because the snakes life was in jeapordy but he doesnt defang any of his hots that i know of. i remember he was in india and was disgusted by how the snake charmers defanged the snakes

Yeah, I'm not sure that source was reliable then, but I just wanted to make sure.
