    It's best to get any shed that encircles the snake off. You can help with removing the shed by soaking in tepid water for an hour. Place the snake in a container with water no higher than it's body. (you don't want it to have to swim) I usually place an old washcloth in too. Then put the entire container within the enclosure so that the temps don't drop too low. Let it soak for 1 hour. Then use the washcloth to gently wipe off excess shed. I hope that helps.

    i put a warm moist paper towel in a section of the tank. will that do?

    I've never tried that, but I don't think so.
