I've kept rats, mice, and gerbils on kiln dried pine for years .... they are all 100% healthy and have ZERO respiratory problems. I have a vet that comes out to my place twice a year to check the snakes and he always takes a few minutes to check out the small group of rodents that I keep as well. Go figure! :sweeet:

pine is the safer of the two if all the dust is taken out but cedar is most certainly toxic. I have tried all of the bedding, and pine worked fine for me but the cedar did not. I'm not attacking I am looking out for the mice and just trying to help and inform of the toxicity of cedar.

uh huh. so which is it??

well it is said to be toxic, when there is dust in it they are. and when there isnt alot of dust it's alright, but the safest of beddings are aspen, carefresh, or newspaper.

Just a few more sites that prove my statement. Why are you guys argueing when there are facts right in front of you, do you think all the sites are lies? I have not argued with anyone on this site when there has been facts that are proven right in front of me. This statement excludes adams statement towards me, as he was not argueing.

yes but you are questioning facts. There is nothing I can answer that I already haven't stated. I tried to give this guy some advice and help so he doesn't have any problems with his rats or mice. I had problems with my gerbils on cedar and the minute i noticed and changed their bedding type to aspen the problems went away.

too bad I've had personal experience too and i own and breed both rats and mice. I have had them for years since i was 8. Do not talk to me about personal experience that is what I just said to the guy that posted this is the first place. I have had experience with cedar with mice and gerbils. All had respitory problems until I changed their bedding type.
