Bought my first Ball Python!

I was pretty stoked to get my first Ball Python a few months ago, but damn you got a good deal (I payed 80 bucks for mine at the same chain). Don't worry about making mistakes, I've made a few myself. You live and you learn. :D

Good luck with it. And don't be surprised if he balls up in your hand (after the 48 hour period is over) when you're handling it. Just let it relax and get used to you. Let it "bond" with you. :)

I would caution you to keep an eye on that yawning. Excessive yawning can be one sign of a respiratory infection.

It's best to get him all checked out by a vet anyway. Again - welcome!

I plan on taking him to the vet within the next week or 2. He hasn't yawned today or yesterday so I don't think that is a problem.

I got mine at the same place for the same deal. Mine too has eaten a few days after i got it. Im currently looking for a vet that handles with more exotic pets vs cats and dogs. Ive been handling mine and he's pretty docile I only get nervous when he starts climbing up my arm. Mine yawns from time to time but not much at all. My wife just gave me permission to name it so i forewarned her that it will either be a roman or greek name (as I name all my pets like that).

Well as promised, I snapped a couple of pictures of Monty today. Please excuse the quality, it is just a cheap $60 target digital camera that wasn't supposed to last this long, lol. I will take some better shots with my girlfriends camera within the next couple of days.
