Re: Peach Throat Moniter
She ate the night of bringing her home, with her FIRST act being to submerge in her water dish and suck in water like a camel. She had a rat pinkie then, and had crickets yesterday. I have to get some calcium powder for her for the inbetween feedings when she is not eating rats or mice. She loved the crickets BTW. That was fun to watch.
I will tape paper over the 3 sides, but the tank is completely against a wall on the back side, I put the bulb that Exoterra sold me but it didn't seem to get very hot. I am going to have to get a temp gun, but taping my BP heat/humidity sensor onto her limb under the spotlight it only read 90F.... until she decided SHE wanted to sit there and pulled it loose climbing. So temp gun is going to be a total neccesity. With THIS tank I can use a couple flower pots or slate rocks to make nice hides, the 29G I tried with a bowl, and a cardboard box for temp hides, but she didn't like them, and continued to pace and rub her nose. So today is the trip for appropiate size flower pots, and slate rock. She went to sleep on my shoulder last night a couple times, and then paced in her tank, then settled whenI put the red bulb back on, and went to sleep. She is quite cute to watch sleeping as she will move her head around often, looking like a kid 'getting comfy'.
More later!

I turned the red light off to take the pictures, but in the first picture you can see the ceramic base light fixture by Exoterra. It has a 100Q INFRARED spot lamp. Should I get something bigger?
It is a desert and tropical terrarium lamp.

Re: Peach Throat Moniter
Nice pics. Temp guns and a must have for monitors(although I don't have one anymore) and are great but what I used when my sav had a basking log was the indoor/out door therms that you get at walmart for like $10-15 and used a twist tie to keep the probe on. Never had a problem with it

Re: Peach Throat Moniter
Congrats on your new baby :) (am late reading this thread). Monitors are fun to watch - especially feeding time. Last time I threw some locusts in mine even did a back flip! LOL!

Re: Peach Throat Moniter
She doesn't seem really enthusied about eating mealworms or crickets, but I think she must be eating them, as I don't see them later.
I soaked her for an hour and a half last night, and since then she has looked great, and has been in and out of her water dish playing a lot today.
She even slept in it, with only her nose poking out, playing crocodile I think.

Re: Peach Throat Moniter
Thank you Wild Bill! I had caresheets from ProExotics, and talked to the guy on the phone from there too. I always want more information though.
Wolfy, watching Charity sit in her water dish.
