I remove my comments that may in hind sight been alittle hastly said

The bottom line is the PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT of ANIMALS do not view captivity as ethical. Everyone on this sight disagrees or else you wouldn't own pets. True there are some Animals that I believe are'nt pets. I.E Lions, ect. PETA has done wonderfull things to see that people care for thier animals as they should be. It has kept animals for being mistreated and the people that have to pay the price. But when they start telling me what I can and can't keep as a pet. thats where it steps on my toes. I was only making referance to the abortation and religion thing. Please forgive

Cassandra, there aren't too many but the ones I frequent are:

Pet Jungle - Michigan Road and 106th street (technically Carmel, IN).
They have many snakes, lizards, T's, live fish, and small mamalls. They have a decent "pile" of large snakes on display in the front window. Ask to see "Chilli" the Kinkajoo. They may have baby skunks in again soon.

Safari in Pets - on Rockville Road (aka 136 in Avon, IN)
They have a smaller selection of snakes and reptiles, more small mamalls, and puppy/kittens.

Specks - on Rockville Road in Avon, IN
Very few snakes, more lizards and live fish.

I'm in at least one of these 3 every week picking up something.

Thanks Mike! Mom lives up near Keystone, so the Avon stores might be a bit of a hike, but we may have to check out the store in Carmel...if only to annoy Rick (drives him nuts that American tend to pronounce "car-a-mel" as "car-mel"...so to take him to a town called "Carmel" would rock). =D

Hehe, I keep asking Rick, mostly as a joke, if I can get a kitten. He always replies "you haven't eaten the first two yet".

    *looks at my new kitty*

    :wuv:

here's how i view this: i've seen elderly people who are so lonely, and then you bring a cat or dog into their life and they get a renewed sense of living! same with handicapped people...

how could anyone, anywhere deny the love you can see in a person's face when they are loving their pet?

PETA - nope, not for me!

Oh yeah. My girlfriend once trained a dog for the specific purpose of helping people in need.

I don't remember what the compnay is called, but she got a pup...trained it, and now that dog is helping a man in a wheelchair so the man can be more independent. PETA would argue, "well that's just work for the dog. it's cruel"

SHUT UP. If that dog could talk, i guarantee you it would say "I love my job and I wouldn't trade it for anything". That dog is smart and well trained. every time you give a command, it wags its tail which means he's HAAAAAAAAAPPY!!

Now, If PETA would help support groups such as the SPCA...I would support them. I love watching Animal Planet...and I love watching these cops go in and cease animals that are in very poor health and almost dead...and then arrest the *******s who are responsible for the animals condition.
