Non Albino rats...

    Too bad you don't live in Richmond. Perfect Pets, the store across the street from me, has a few pet rats who are not predominantly albinos. Mostly black AND white, but they're not albinos.


    Haha. You could take the six-eight hour drive down here to pick 'em up though. (I've driven both ways too many times...).

    I have never seen a link between color/genetics and temperament in rats. In both colors,I have had individuals that were absolutely docile moms and were as handleable as could be, and then there were those who were evil despite handling before their eyes were even open. i do agree that temperament is genetic to an extent, but in my experience both albinos and norms can be nasty or nice!
    Pet stores around here stock both.

    I have some just weaned non -albino females and an albino wean male..you can have if you want....as you know I am in North Jersey... i just don't know if wanted to waste the time to raise them up for a few months before they can breed...

    my most friendly and docile rat is actually an albino female. the crazy biter that i referred to earlier was a black berkshire. funny how it can work i guess, but i really do think that the friendliness of the breeders i have now comes from all the handling they got as they were raised. they don't get handled as much now because i don't really bring them out to play as much when they are nursing and whatnot, but they are still very docile ratties. :)
