If i was that snake I would be like, "Get off of me kid before I eat you:mad: !!!"

LOL. Serioulsy though, that kid better be careful or he might end up hurt or dead.

i dunno... normally i would freak out seeing something like that... but since the two of them have been together for 7 years... i'm guessing the snake and boy have a special friendship... probably a soul connection...

of course, we can't see what it's really like in a short clip like that :wuv: but the snake seems cared for really well from what the article says.

    Cute but a lil scary.

Reminds me of a story that was doing the snake forum rounds a little while back about the snake (can't remember species) in a Japanese zoo (I think) that decided it wasn't going to eat one of its meals so the "meal" (rodent/rabbit) stayed there with it and they would snuggle up to sleep together and had been for a month or more ... not that I'm saying the snake will eat the boy in this case (hopefully it's being well fed so won't even think about it ;) )

Hey Robin, I went ahead and moved this to the Giant Python section. It seemed to fit better here. ;)

That was a very interesting clip. Thanks for posting it.

Just because they have been together for 7 years doesn't mean a thing. Many people that get attacked by giant pythons have had them for a while. Not calling you wrong but chances are he will still attack the kid one day. Not safe IMO to let any large snake around a small child

It was a rat snake and a hamster.

Re: A Little Boy and His Giant Python
a few years ago i knew this guy... he had some pythons... have no idea what kind... but he went to feed it a pregnant mouse one day... well the snake didn't eat it. the mouse made a nest and gave birth. the snake actually coiled around the nest and seemed to protect his friend and her babies.

any other mice which came into the enclosure were eaten... but she wasn't.

i moved away but i know the mouse lived with him for months (he removed the babies when they were bigger and put them in with his other feeders) - odd how he didn't eat that mouse...

i'm not saying the snake won't or couldn't attack that boy and honestly i would never even consider allowing something like that... but i also believe sometimes things happen that would not normally occur... and perhaps - within that realm - they exist in peace together. :wuv:

cause let's face it... amazing miracles happen. we can't explain them. we don't know why... but sometimes... they just do.

Did you notice the snake looks to be in shed? Yet to see another update on them living together still have you?

sorry jake... i'm not sure if you are talking to me or marshall or the original poster of this thread.

if you are talking to me...

i moved away and don't even know how to contact them now... sorry

edited to add: okay i looked at the link to the hamster and snake and see it's in blue... so that's what you are discussing.

i think, that if the hamster is fed and watered and the snake isn't interested in eating it... then why would the hamster bite the snake? doesn't make any sense to me - but perhaps i'm missing something.

i'd be more concerned about allowing the snake to live in a cardboard box with the urine of the hamster - that, to me, is a more direct concern :fishslap:
