    *Update*

Ok, heres an update on how my decsion is going. My budget is possibly going up so I can consider a couple more possibilities. Right now Im considering a pair of amarali boas from Barry Miller, a Male Pine Island Leachianus from NERD, or a super dwarf retic from Bob Clark. Any Comments.

i think it partially depends on whether you want to breed sooner rather than later (or at all). obviously if you get the pair of boas you are looking at sooner but if you go with any single animal you are limited to when you can get a mate for it and grow it up to breeding size and age...

This must be very exciting for you. Good luck with whichever animal(s) you choose.

Personally, I would be all over the amaralis. But if you just want a pet for now, a super dwarf retic is super cool!

Thats where I would bank the cash.. the leachie is so cool, but not a pair.... I too have thought about acquiring some of those (leachies), but currently, the cost is prohibitive to me at the moment.

Balls balls more balls. Thats just me though.

SD retics are insanely cool as well though, if you are looking for something a little different to look at.

Good luck with the decision and whatever you end up with though. Don't forget to post pics!

Im leaning towards the amarali now but Im trying to decide which locality to choose. The silver of the bolivians is sweet but the randomness of the brazilians litters is cool. Here are the 2 pairs Im considering

    M#1 and F#4

    F#2 and M#1

    Which would you choose.

I've found a problem with the amarali boas. When they would give birth I would be in the last couple years of college. How much time is actually involved in raising a litter of boas.

Well boas can have 20-30 babies or more. If you have a rack system for them.. figure a good hour to hour and a half to clean the cages weekly depending on how simple your setup is (ie disposable water dishes and newspaper substrate will save some time) and then the feeding.. depending on what feeding method you use, it can take more or less time.

If you're going to ship babies, you have to allow time to get to an airport or fedex store to send them off.
