    alright i think i get it now. since theres only 1 probe u put it in one cage and since the other cage is the same size and heated in the exact same way it should be the same temp as the other one that is probed? if im wrong i appologize and yea i do have dial thermoms so if i dont end up gettin a tstat which i think i will ill get a digital thermomater

    Yes, that's how it works. :) And I would highly recommend getting a digital thermometer in any case. They cost around $12 or less and can be found in most stores like Wal Mart, Target, Home Depot, etc. It's something you can get relatively easily and quickly, so why not?

    thank you for all of your helpful suggestions im definitely gonna get me a tstat probably a herpstat nd because they sound pretty good. if anyone has one and would like to comment on its performance please do!
