Re: dang lil' thermometer probe
ok...i use cypress bedding for substrate and it's pretty thick...i honestly have no idea how to get the temp down on the glass underneath the substrate. i just took a reading and its up there. ira hasent burrowed yet but i realize your point tim that she could, and she probably will. will the glass cool down if i use a thinner/different substrate? maybe cage carpet or newspaper?
thanks-
Re: dang lil' thermometer probe
I think you need to put a t-stat, or at least a dimmer on your undertank heater. Lowes sells a plug in lamp dimmer switch made by a company called Fulton. You just plug your heater into the dimmers plug and plug the dimmers plug into the wall. Then slide the switch until you get the desired heat. I just bought one of those dimmers for some cornsnakes that I have and they cost $10. Very cheap, and a great investment.
Re: dang lil' thermometer probe
I believe the company is called Lutron and the specific dimmer's name is the "Credenza". Both Lowe's and Home Depot sell them.
Re: dang lil' thermometer probe
Thanks Becky, I couldn't remember the name, I guess I was further of than I thought. By the way, the Home Depots by us does not carry it, only Lowes.
Re: dang lil' thermometer probe
Really? Weird... Both stores by me carry them, and they have two different colors. The clearish-grey ones are around $8 and the white ones are $11... I don't get it, LoL.
