Why do you feel the need to make those two concepts mutually exclusive? I could easily invest my captial into real estate, oil & gas, munies, etc ... BUT I just happen to love snakes ... if you love snakes and don't have investment captial, buy normals ... if you have some personal wealth and love snakes, why not invest in them? .... and if you're going to invest, you'd be a fool to not want a return on your investment ... otherwise your money would be better off as a donation to a worth while charity.

Nicely put. Good job.

I got the point. You don't invest in oil because you love oil, you invest to get a return on your investment. You don't invest in snakes just to turn a profit or just because you love snakes. In that case it is a little of both unless you get them just to have them and don't breed them.
At any rate, the basic law of supply and demand governs the prices. As more breeders produce more morphs, the prices will natrually drop because the supply increases. If you want to maintain the prices on morphs, you have to limit the supply or increase the demand. This is basic economics.

Re: Albino's?
What you have to remember is that, while there are more and more breeders breeding more morphs, there are also more and more new people getting into the game, every year you see more and more people getting into the ball game, whether its people who have had normals, and are now ready to move up to morphs, or total newbies getting into ball pythons in general, and we all know that leads to wanting a morph LOL or last years morph newbies who have made some money from breeding their snakes and want to spend bigger money, on higher end morphs, so in essence, what Im trying to say is that while supply is increasing, demand is also increasing as well (demand moreso than supply in my opinion) so Im not worried at all about supply exceeding demand.....thats my two bits

Re: Albino's?
Thank you Adam for the Quick Draw Mcgraw response! If I was home from work earlier I would have had a similar response but it may have not been in so many words. LOL, I love educated people. That is why this forum stands alone in being the best BP forum in the world. That is also why I am here.
Now in response to "bigboyslims" comments-
"I love how everyone "is in it for the snakes" but the same people are always whining about the return on their "investment".
I am not whining about the return on my investment. Being a business man myself I was simply stating that it is "shady" to undercut the market you are in and use excuses along the lines of "need cash fast so the BPs have to go". Obviously I am being sarcastic about the car tires and dogs toe in the previous posts. But it is true. People are letting go of their BPs too soon. Why? Maybe because they fear an upcoming BP market crash or is it truthful to say they realized how much WORK it is to take PROPER CARE of their reptiles.
If the market goes south, so will the prices of the higher end morphs so I will just purchase them then. To me it is a win/win situation. I either produce more capital to reinvest or I end up with a lot of gorgeous snakes from years of my own selective breeding. Where am I going wrong here. I win either way.
All my geckos, monitors, bearded dragons and snakes get treated alike, with tender loving care because I will not settle for less. I personally have enough money invested in my assorted collection of PETS that I could say what I want about reinvesting earned money from breeding projects back into the market.
Get me.
Thank you again for your opinions and comments. I am going to end this thread hijack right now. I apologize for such a long post and the hijack gizmo.
Everyone have a good night and be safe.

Well put Danny. It actually does sound like you're in it for the animals.

Re: Albino's?
I could not agree more with Adam and Danny.
I love my snakes, and have had "normal" ball pyhtons for years. I am at a position in my life where I have the capital, (and my back can't take jumping ATV's any more), so I choose to "invest" in a few morphs. Sure I would like to make some money in return some day, but that is not the only reason I have the morphs. This is my new hobby, and I enjoy it. Anyone who is in it just for the money will not last, and I think it shows when you see the KS adds for entire collections of 30 or more snakes.
