I'm have the 11" on a Herpstat running at 105 degrees taped directly to the Flexwatt, and I have the back insulated with Reflectix. I'm going to pull it out next week and run 3" on each shelf to get the temps up.

    Lawrence,
Are you refering to a CB-70 sized tub rack. The rack that I use my 11" flexwatt on is designed around a 6 quart tub(about the size of a shoebox). It seems to work great for them. However, I could see where back heat on a rack designed around larger tubs would cause problems with heating, unless it was an enclosed(i.e. melamine) style rack.

Yep, they're Sterilite boxes, but roughly the same size as the CB-70. The rack is an enclosed Melamine style with the insulation on the back behind the flexwatt. The very edge of the tub gets warm enough, but 1-2" in and the temps drop down to 88. I can see how it would be fine with a small rack and small tubs, but I guess not with these big ones. :confuzd:

I have the 41 qt sterilite racks made out of melamine and use 11" x 12" flexwatt for bellyheat on the back of each shelf. It works much better than the back heat and keeps a better heat gradient. :)

I am building a rack out of a home depot shelving unit. 9 slots cost with heat tap and tubs and all should be around 400. I will post pictures when it is done. Thanks
