Re: Bunny Gender Bender (TMI)
Poor thing...I remember when I brought my cat Cato home from getting neutered...he was a limp furry sack of bones.
I think Unut is still a great name, regardless of his gender. =) I hope he gets to feeling better soon!

Poor babies... it's hard, but it's what's best for them! And thank you, Cassandra, I love his name too! :)
He is doing great, btw! He *likes* his medicines and is eating and pooing as he should! No more blood in his urine either! Still looks pitiful as can be, but doing better already with his sad pink shaved belly. It's not easy getting spayed *and* neutered!

Re: Bunny Gender Bender (TMI)
lol, thanks for the reminder, Sweety!! *changes sig* Unut's feeling TONs better right now! Zipping around the cage, sitting up and begging for attention.. But I'm supposed to keep him separated and in the sick cage till Tuesday, so poor boy's gotta hold tight!
Ever see the Secret of Nimh? Remember the youngest mouse at the end? "But Mooooom, I feel fine!! I don't wanna stay in bed!" That's Unut about now, lol.

Re: Bunny Gender Bender (TMI)
Those are both adorable breeds! I highly recommend poking around http://www.petfinder.com/ when you're ready for a rabbit rescue that'll let you take Lucky in to date around your favorite picks! That's how we got Bowie, and it made bonding tons easier. Here's a link to how our first bonding experience went, not dial up friendly as it's in picturebook form practically, lol. There's nothing like a pair of happy cuddly bunnies... cept maybe a trio, lol. :) It's also cheaper to get a bun from a rescue, as they come spayed and neutered!

Re: Bunny Gender Bender (TMI)
Wow, that's quite a story there! Were your rabbits hanging out with my BPs? (you know, how I thought the one was male and the other, female?) lol. At least you know now!

Re: Bunny Gender Bender (TMI)
lol, apparently they have! All our gender fluid babies :D
Dr. Ross told me that she, Dr. Frank, and 2 techs *all* checked him out and were quite sure he was a girl. 4 professionals were completely fooled by our little man's feminine wiles, and carefully tucked away boy bits. Surprise!
He just got his last after spay/neuter checkup, and he's doing great btw. :) He's gained almost a whole nother pound in the last week! That's 3 pounds a week! Dr. Ross was fussing over him, and so impressed with how well behaved and cooperative he is. He's in perfect health, recovering quickly and beautifully, and more than one person mentioned how unusual it is for them to see such sweet friendly rabbits as our boys (Daphne cops an attitude, lol) and so well socialized to boot.
She went on to say that one of her favorite things about her job is when she sees special pets like Unut with such a loving family. In my sleep deprived hormonal state, I almost started crying right there. She said that sometimes people would come in with special pets and they think "What a shame... that pet is so smart, or that pet is so needy, or the person has the pet for the wrong reasons..." And then sometimes, she gets to see amazing, smart, sweet animals in the perfect sort of home for them like ours. I continued to resist crying on the way home. What a beautiful thing to say to me...
I've gotten really close to Unut too, over the last week. I was pretty much the only company he's had while he's been recovering and he's that much more relaxed around me and about getting picked up etc. I'm so grateful for all our critters, they keep me sane. :)

I have to say that she's just tellin' it like it is. :P During our brief visit to your apartment, I was majorly impressed that you could have so many animals in such close quarters and it didn't smell at all...things may have been cluttered but it was clean. And all the animals were so obviously beautifully cared for, loved on, pampered, spoiled, loved, loved, loved. (And not "loved" in the sense of the old lady with 37 cats because she can't bear to fix them or to give away the kittens!)
You can use me as a reference for on a pet-adoption application any time!

Re: Bunny Gender Bender (TMI)
It must be so hard to be a vet or vet tech and see the idiot owners that come through a practise and then see ones like you and Karen that truly love and understand each of their unique pets. :)
