im gonna have to say lizards. my western fence lizard is great to watch chase crickets at a bajillion miles an hour, jump from rock to rock and even just bask. when she basks she splays out her legs and opens her mouth, lol. its pretty cool. pretty soon my ackie will be getting here and ill have an AWESOME time watching him and observing his habits.

I think my favorite would be a Cham. I love watching those eyes and the methodical way the move. Plus you can't beat those color changes.

Chameleons are wicked. A nice big open air screen cage in the living room with a big colorful Cham...That to me is a display animal. But I am also intrigued by tortoises. I don't know why..They crack me up because I am so used to seeing turtles in the water, to see a tortoise in a tank eating greens is funny.

I go for snakes. Yet I believe how and in what makes the display. Boils down to lighting , set up and so called props in my opinion. My son uses tubs for his snakes, but I would rather fight like the ****ens to keep humidity up in a tank so they are always on display.:D

I agree too! I would love to have a nice setup with red eyes!! I just love them!!

lol! Hopefully relatively soon... like next year. ;) I know I never want to have a Beautyless livingroom again. Even when I have a snake room, Ma-tsu's staying in the livingroom where people can see her all the time. Wouldn't want her to miss her tv shows anyway. :P

I think diurnal lizards and snakes are great for displays, but for me lizards generally win out because of their increased activity when compared to snakes.
If I had to pic a few reptiles to 'display', I would have to go with.....bearded dragons, fence lizards, collard lizards, rough green snakes, and garter snakes.
Easy ... Me! ... Stick me in a tub, watch me shed and tag you for touching my clutch! :D

Cresties are fun, but too bad they only come out at night. I have mine in a 55g octagon tank with potting soil growing three nice foilage plants. I also have nice branches crossing over through out.

I have to think a nice Emerald Tree Boa would be cool looking though.

Re: In your opinion, what is the best 'display' reptile?
I voted lizards all the way. Why? Monitors. What is a better display animal than one of the largest lizards in the world? Croc, water, doesn't matter, it will be a jaw dropper for anyone who sees it. :sweeet:
