    There are brown snakes (midlands to be specific) native to Illinois, so technically she could release it and the little one would be fine in the climate, even in the city, I've heard of them dubbed "city snakes"...but legally I'm not sure if there are any issues there.

    It is a little injury on her belly.

    I don't want to release her.. risk of introducing exotic disease/parasites from being held in captivity. Besides, I like her.
