Re: nipped tail Pied
Man that is a gorgeous snake!!!! I too, would think it would have been extremely lucky if it hadn't lost one or both hemipenes...that "nip" is just a little too close for comfort!!!!! I wouldn't be interested at all unless he could provide you with a photo of the snake being popped. But, man, if the guy was fine, that would be one sweeeeet deal!!!!

Re: nipped tail Pied
I'm sorry...we are waaay past the point of "nip" here...just for perspective. That snake was a Greenie for a gnaw-happy rat. While there are psycho rats on occasion, most often injuries like this are from a rat left in with a snake too long. Makes you wonder what other details may not be covered...

Re: nipped tail Pied
Let's put it this way. If I wanted to sell a deformed/injured snake, and was selling it as possibly breedable, i would take several high-res photos of the area, including photos of the intact hemipenes, as well as a copy of the vet note, and the vets number for confirmation of his/her opinion on the matter.
The way they are selling it, I would almost guarantee one of the following:
1) The seller is lazy
2) That snake is almost definitely unbreedable

Re: nipped tail Pied
everything else aside, your first clue here should be the fact that they are selling it on a reptile auction site. not much good comes from those places...

Re: nipped tail Pied
I'm really interested in HOW that happened. Would a tail be surgically removed if it were bitten bad enough by a rodent?

Re: nipped tail Pied
He will not tell anyone how it happened. One of the last times he had it on the auctions people had asked him how it happened and he never reasponded to them.I agree the snake is nice looking but why take the chance on it as there might be other health issues with it not disclosed before you buy it.I am not sure about the rest of the males that looked at the pic,but i kinda had to take a deep breath looking at how close the nip is to the vent  .

Re: nipped tail Pied
I don't think I would buy it , breeding is very important and fun. When you have such a beauty you wanna make more of them. And 1600 dollar's for a world of limitation's is not for me , 400 more get's you an Albino.
