Re: Hey, I'd like to introduce myself and ask a few questions.
Thanks for the advice, I will try a Blue Bulb at night and see how it works out.
Re: Hey, I'd like to introduce myself and ask a few questions.
Hi. I had the same problems w/the bulbs. U can blow them a lot faster by handling them while installing them. U have to handle them (like halogens) by using cloth, instead of your bare hands. If U do use the CHEs, be sure to attach thermostats. My CHE would always get the tank TOO hot w/o close monitoring.
I have the ceiling fan going in my bedroom all the time to keep the air circulating w/o any problems. As long as my temp is okay, the air moving around helps me sleep but my tubs and tanks stay the same temp.
For humidity if U want to keep Duane in a tank, cover all of the tank w/saran/plastic wrap except an area about quarter size in opposite corners of the lid. Or U can keep a damp bath towel over the screen to help boost the humidity.
Welcome :handshake: to the site! :)

I went through this humidity thing when I was using viv's. What worked for me finally was I put the water bowl partially on the UTH which created humidity, then I went to my local hardware store and got a piece of plexeglass and put it on top of the tank about half way on, to much humidity I moved it open too little I covered it more, during times of shed I would take a damp bath towel and cover the tank almost to the basking light and put the plexeglass on the towel, now I have gone to tubs only and won't go back. As har as your light I have heard of this particular brand doing this, since I no longer use basking lighting I would be more than happy to mail you the bulb I was using, I forget the brand but it's a red light that looks like a small version of a heat lamp in a bathroom and is a 75watt bulb. You are more than welcome to it, you can PM me on this site with an address and I will ship it to you. Let me know.
