Re: breeding loans
Thanks for the input.
Specifically
1. what is the standard split of offspring?
2. what happens if the loaned animal is not available to be returned?

we did a first pick goes to the owner or the higher end animal and so on. but again you work that out before and place that in the contract.
2. what happens if the loaned animal is not available to be returned?
thats also something that sould be work out in the contract. but that way we did it was if the animal was harmed from something i done wrong we set a replacement value on her females and i would have to pay that amout for said female but if the animal passed from something that was out of my hands such as it was sick when i got it and i tried to save it by takeing it to a vet i would not have to pay replace ment.

I absolutely agree that this sort of loan shouldn't be entered into without the utmost trust between both parties. However, that level of trust does not mean a written contract isn't a good idea. A contract is not necessarily a sign of distrust, but a clear and concise definition of the agreement between the two parties. The contract defines specifically what is expected from each party and what each party gains from the arrangement.
Genuine misunderstandings or faulty memories have nothing to do with a person's integrity or desire to do the right thing. A contract helps to alleviate these types of difficulties even between people who respect and trust each other.

Re: breeding loans
that's just me judy, i'm a little old school. a handshake or someone's word is good enough for me to do a deal. i will not deal with people who i doubt or am skeptical about. nothing against contacts or guarantees, they just don't give me any more peace of mind. personally if i had a breeding loan going and forgot some details, i would have enough faith in the other party to trust them. if they forgot also,we would just work it out again! lol

Re: breeding loans
Yeah but no one is perfect. What happens if someone forgets or is fuzzy on the details. Sure they might end up coming around and agreeing, but there might be some resentment held.
Trust the person, but still write everything down so there is no confusion.
I think there are people online that I would trust, but Ive never met them, in that case do you e-shake their e-hand? :)
