I use the same drinking water I purchase for myself. The only ones that drink tap are the dogs. They go thru too much to buy their water. If drinking water not available I use a dechlorinator.

For my tarantulas and for my BP we use distilled water. I was concerned about chlorine and chlorimine. I know there are people who use tap for everything, I just don't like to.

Luckily, the apartment group I live in has a water softner. Usually the water the T's and the herps has sat out for at least 24 hours though.

If it wasn't for the water softener, I would use filtered water. The city water here in some parts of the city smells like a swimming pool

Just for information purposes the old way of letting tap water sit to let the chlorine evaporate no longer works with many cities. They have changed the chemicals, and if you need it declorinated, you need to use a de-clorinater.
Learned that from the saltwater tanks I kept.
Mine all drink the same well water I do.
Other than having a high pH, it is fine for them I am sure.

I'm using water so fast that I don't have time to let it sit overnight to dechlorinate. I use the RS. Easier to just squirt it in and pour. I have a Brita faucet filter and pitcher both, but I use those for us, not the pets. The cats and rats get it right from the tap, but for the snakes, I use the treatment. Even by the gallon, the bottle is lasting forever, so I'm going to keep using it. Per use cost is pennies so *shrugs*

I sometimes drink tap water (I'm odd). Good for me, good for the snakes! :)

I have a Britta water filter hooked up to my faucet and use it for everything. The water in the Orchards District here is absolutely disgusting, from 4 legs to none, everything at my house gets good water :).

Although this is an old thread, there is a post that I thought needed a reply -

One poster stated that she gives distilled water to her animals. Distilled water does not contain any of the essential minerals, etc that tap or bottled water contain. This is very, very bad for animals. Obviously, distilled water won't hurt them in and of itself, but it deprives them of these needed nutrients.

Tap water your already paying for it why not use it. Some turtles and frogs might not have a good reaction to it bu I have never had any problems.
