Bet the pet store sold you those analogs dials too. They are just darned unreliable that's why I suggested the Acu-Rite. Pet stores unforunately don't often know squat about the reptiles they sell and will sell you heat rocks which have been known for years to be unsafe for any living creature. I would start by spending the $10.00 on the Acu-Rite so you know for sure what your temps and humidity are, toss out that "unknown" substrate stuff and replace it with newspaper or a few layers of plain white paper towel. Personally I use fine shred Aspen from WalMart for substrate but there's a lot of safe choices out there (search under BP Husbandry should help you with tons of threads on substrate). Newspaper or papertowels though are simple, cheap and very effective as well as being incredibly easy to keep the enclosure spotlessly clean.
With this issue of flipping over I'd strongly encourage a vet visit. If you need help locating one just holler. I'm no snake expert or a vet, but that sort of behaviour would have me concerned.
30 gallons is a big glass enclosure for a relatively small BP. You may want to switch to a simple Rubbermaid/Sterlite enclosure until you snake grows up somewhat or add a few more hides in the tank to use up that open space which tends to stress out these shy snakes. The tub option is also very easy to stabilize so it may help your stress levels as well LOL.
If you got this snake from a breeder you should know exactly how old it is, unless this person sold you a WC or is moving bulk purchased babies out.
