flexwatt substitutes for UTH's. flexwatt works just as well or maybe even better that say a eco-terra UTH and costs considerably less, at like 3.70 or so per foot+the 8.00 for the wiring, which still comes up cheaper.
Re: Humidity problem and a stuffed snake
also would it be recomended to change from a basking light to a ceramic heat lamp. I see alot of people say yes but i want to make sure

that would be best for the warm side. BTW, what are the temps for your hot and cool side of the cage?
my hot end is about 90-92
my cool end is 78 ish give or take when the fogger flows
the middle gets about 80

yes. heat bulbs take out more humidity than CHE's.

your hot end is good but you want your cool end to be about 82-84, so you want to bump that up a bit. anything below 80 has a risk of causing RI.
Re: Humidity problem and a stuffed snake
Thanks!
I honestly cannot keep the middle and the cool end steady temps, mostly because I am still working on the humidity problem.
I am going to switch to a heat emitter this week, for my 4ftLength tank should I use a 165W for the hot end? lower or higher?

im not sure why you want a che for the hot end? if you want it for ambient temps then you just need a 50 or 75 watt bulb for the hot end or it will change the ground temp to much. as for the cool end i would get another uth, preferably flexwatt, but if you cant afford a thermostat than i would get a 150 watt che for the cool end and try that out. remember, you want belly heat, not back heat, and as few lamps as possible, that will help your humidity most.
Re: Humidity problem and a stuffed snake
thanks again.
Im going to get a UTH for the cool and a CHE for the ambient temp. which would then cut out like two or three extra lights i got going. Thanks again for the help.
I got a joke for you....
Why do seagulls fly over the sea?
:giggle:

good. remember to get a thermostat too. you should really consider getting the flexwatt from matt and if you already have a thermostat for the hot side i would switch that over to flexwatt too. put the che in the middle and then cover most of the rest of the screen with saran wrap, contac paper, etc.
oh, i have no idea why seagulls fly over the sea!!!
Re: Humidity problem and a stuffed snake
Because if they flew over the bay, they'd be bay-guls (bagels
)!! lol
