Shad, your set up is looking very nice, but in the first pic (before pic) I noticed in the back panel toward the top, there it a small rip in the fabric. You may want to patch that up somehow because your crested will most likely find it and make an escape.

I dont know that you want to mist with HOT water, warm water I would say would be fine, but HOT water could actually burn your crestie once it is in there. When I mist, I use room temp water, and my humidity stays fine.

Good eye Jeanne! I went back to look at the hole and then noticed he patched the hole in the 3rd or 4th pic down. It looks like duct tape is on the inside of the cage.

Shad- good luck with the new little guy! He looks awesome!

If I was you I would just stick with paper towels for the substrate. Atleast for the first couple months. That way you can monitor you crestie fairly easy.

well coming from someone who sends me daily updates and very reputable, i just put some bedabeast (fine layer, no more than 1/4 an inch) on the bottom to help hold humidity it's paced very tightly so i may even put paper towels over it, just need something to help hold humidity.

you can also provide a humid hide for added humidity if needed. moist sphagnum moss or even paper towels in a small rubbermaid type container with a hole cut in it will work wonders. :)
