Re: how often should a BP shed?
bp can take up 2 weeks befor they shed. just keep spraying her down that will help her better.you can still handle her when she is like that. after she sheds want a couple of days befor handling her. her new skin will be a little sore for her at fist so just be carefull

As long as you can maintain the humidity at 70% or so, there is no reason you should have to spray her down. I also haven't heard about waiting after a shed. I handle immediately after a shed, with no problems.
Johar, it usually takes 7-10 days to finish a shed. You may want to poke your head in, just to see where she is in the shedding proccess. Hopefully you'll have a nice shed in a couple days. Good luck. :D
Re: how often should a BP shed?
thanx libear2. :)
tigerlilly :) thats what i do everyday. i just make sure i got the right humidity+tempt.
the temp is like between 85 n 89, and the humidity between 70% and 75%
she's always hiding :)
i can't wait :) , do i need to soak her in water after she sheds? or no need to do so?
Re: how often should a BP shed?
Johar, the only reason to soak her is if she has a bad shed with lots of stubborn bits of it still stuck to her body. If your humdity is correct, then she should shed fine without any soaking.
A question for you, though. When you say your temps are "about 85-89"...are you just measuring your temps in one part of the cage? Is the whole cage one temperature? You really should maintain a gradient of temperatures so that one end of the cage is around 92-94 and the other end is around 82-84. Not just an average of the two for the whole tank. Make sense? If I misread that to begin with, then ignore my intrusion. ;)
Re: how often should a BP shed?
im measuring where she's staying :) and yes, one half is warm , the other one is cold.
it wouldn't be correct to say that the temp is 94 if she's staying in the cold spot. well , i got 3 hidings, one warm, one in the middle , the other one is cold :)
thanx for the inforamtion . so i guess i'll have to wait .. i hate waiting :D
Re: how often should a BP shed?
As far as I know snakes are not "sore" after they shed, but please do correct me if I'm out in left field on this one. It isn't a process like a human being losing a layer of skin to a burn where the new skin is tender and raw at first. My understanding is that the newly shed snake is just as ready to deal with it's environment as it ever was. Doesn't make sense to me that nature would design a creature that would be in pain when it had to crawl up a tree or around forest litter or termite mounds just after it's shed. None of ours have ever shown any behaviour that would indicate to me that they are tender after a shed and Mike and I physically check each right after shed to make sure it all came off cleanly.
Re: how often should a BP shed?
franky , what you said makes alot of sense :)
just wanned to tell everyone that the 1st shed was successfull :) she's bright!!!
and its supposed to be her feeding day. anyways, i checked her eyes, she was kinda nervous at the begining. maybe cuz i left her for almost a week without handling.
but now she's fine , and she ate :D
thank you all for the wonderful help and support
