i use the plastic plant pot bases as hides and i love them. i use the small ones for my leos and some of my cresteds and different sized ones for my juvie ball pythons depending on what size they need. can't beat the price!

the dividers are an option, 11 bucks a piece.

the holes are cut with a cordless drill and holesaws
(1 1/2", 2") then i use sandpaper and smooth the edges.

those flower pot bottoms are awesome, i've seen them in 3 or 4 diffrent sizes. you can't beat the walmart price either. stock up in spring/summer though as they are a seasonal item there.

Very nice Vaughn! Thanks for the idea for hides and how to make that perfect circular top entrance. Those racks are very nice looking and I've never seen a divider idea like that (some that you can switch out tub sizes but never dividing a tub that way....very nice!). I'm waiting to see what Reptile Basics new racks look like but this other company just made my top 5 list of who to look at when we buy racks. Very nice!

I have to think about making new hides soon. Monty is almost at the point where he can move the hide around like a turtle. I am currently using plastic flower pot bases, but that square container looks like the way to go.

Yes, I didn't mean to change them right away, just getting ready for the near future. He's a growing boy!

Adam convinced me to keep my nice tight, snug hides for my "kids". I'm still amazed that they can get their bodies in there, but they do. Nice thing is, I can tell which hide they are in by seeing which hide is raised just a "smidge"! LOL

I just have these Wile E Coyote visions of a hide getting up on snakey tip-toes and wandering around the cage...:evileye: And no, I have no idea what they put in my coffee this morning.

The way my hides move around the enclosure and the warm side probe ends up in the middle of the enclosure giving me heart palpitations when I peek in for temp checks - I wouldn't be surprised! ;)

Yes, I have experienced that feeling as well. I think he likes to move the probe just to keep me on my toes!:)
