When using flexwatt, let's say, on the bottom of a sterilite plastic tub for belly heat, if the is placed on a wooden floor will the flexwatt apply heat to the floor? Or does flexwatt only get really hot on one side?

it gets hot on both sides. you could use a piece of flat metal or ceramic tile and place the heat tape on this. or just raise the cage about 1/8-1/4 inch above the heat tape.

It is important for the tubs to fit snuggly into each shelf? Is there a maximum amount of space that should be left in between the top of the tub and the next shelf?

    Thanks guys :)

Are those lock on tops for sterilite tubs reliable? I believe they're usually gray in color. Also what price do those space heaters usually run for?

    Thanks

I found that with a couple of binder clips, they are reliable :) Otherwise... no! Mr. slippery slithery snake can easily slide out of the side of the top of the tub. (good sentence, eh?)

they have a space heater at Wally World for 50 bucks.

It seems to me that everyone just gets their herp stuff at walmart. I think they should just have a reptile section to make it even easier for us.

Yeah, it would be a pretty big section but it would be pretty cool and easier to find everything (I hate walking around the supercenters trying to find everything)
