That part you'll have to do your own testing on. Put your thermometer probe on top of the substrate and under the hide over the flexwatt...then set your t-stat to...say...95 degrees...and see what the temp reaches under the hide...then increase or decrease as needed until you've reached the temperature you want to maintain.

I really do appreciate the help everyones gave me on this so far. Ive got to get a thermometer with a probe on it. I was wondering how am I supposed to cutu the reflectix for the lid? I have read somewhere to cut 1.5 inch squares on the corners. Is that enough air for the snake to breath? I have my heat lamp with a dimmer on the cold side. Do I need to cut the reflectix around the place where the lamp is?Im sorry to keep asking so many questions, but this is my first snake and I want it to live a long time and be comfortable. And one more thing, I have a critter cage with a sliding lid, So I cant put the reflectix on the inside, Im going to have to put it on top of the cage, Will it still work that way? How do you attach it to the tank? Ok, Im done for now.Sorry.
