Re: Pair of YH Tigers
I've been looking into the Dumerils and i was wondering do they ever take rabbits and do they have strick need to keeping or are they decent and pretty easy to care for? And what size of enclosure do they need at full grown? Do they stay about the size of a "COMMON BOA" and how thick? Thanks Aaron IM just wanting to make sure that i narrow it down to what i really want a DUM, Corn or a king.

Re: Pair of YH Tigers
Well, green burms seem to get sick and die after they reach 2-3 years of age. They get chronic RIs that seem uncurable and they kind of wither away. The problem is, they are old enough to breed before they die, so they continue to be sold.
The problems are known as 'burm disease'

BPAD--- I don't know much about Dums to be honest. I know they don't get very long, I think 6-7 ft is max for a female, maybe 8. But from what I understand, they're pretty heavy bodied. I've heard they are easy to maintain, with pretty docile temperments once they mature, but can be nippy as sub-adults. Either way, a Dum will be vastly larger than a Corn or King. Sorry I can't help you more.
Shelby---That sucks, they're such cool looking snakes, especially the albino patternless. Guess I'll just have to stick with a regular albino burm.....................Gee, darn.

Re: Pair of YH Tigers
You should check out albino labyrinth, and albino granite burms. They're pretty hot.
BPAD - you should really start a new thread if you want to ask something so off topic, but everything in the post above about dums was correct. A 4'x2' cage is usually adequate.

Re: Pair of YH Tigers
Maybe a bit OT...
I saw looking at some breeder's website today and he had pictures of his Dum's self-buried in their substrate (cypress mulch if I remember correctly), which he said was their hunting technique, to bury themselves in the substrate (leaf/etc. debris in the wild?) and wait for an appropriate prey to pass by and then, ZING!, the dum pounces out of the cover and nabs the prey. Is that correct according to what you folks know? =)
I really like dum's....me wants. ;)

Re: Pair of YH Tigers
Yes, that's absolutely true Cassandra. In fact, the trick to getting baby dums to eat is to give them something to burrow in so they can 'ambush' their rat!
My dum likes to go under her paper.
